Isaiah Hartwell writes picture books for the kids who feel things deeply — the patient ones, the loud-world-overwhelmed ones, the ones who see the world a little differently and make it more beautiful for it.
Made Out of Clay Productions began with a simple belief: that every child deserves to see themselves on the page, exactly as they are. That belief grew into three series —
- At Sunny's Table — a gentle sloth family learning patience, quiet, and belonging.
- Just the Way You Are — identity-first stories of neurodiversity and inclusion, inspired by a real boy named Clayton.
- The Kingdom of Judea — Caleb and the Cubs on an epic lion-kingdom adventure about courage and home.
Every title is premium full color, 8.5×8.5, and made to be read again and again.
How our books are made
Isaiah Hartwell is a pen name — the storytelling voice of Made Out of Clay, a small family-run studio. We're open about our process: we use modern AI tools in our drafting and illustration workflow, and every story is shaped, edited, and approved by the humans behind the studio before it ever reaches a child's hands. The books are inspired by real kids in our lives — including a boy named Clayton, whose way of seeing the world started all of this.
